In this post we are gonna start with the big back piece.
Choose which way you want it to face, you can either have the leathery side facing out or in I chose to have the white side out and then paint it grey to match the pictures that I had! But it is entirely up to you at the end of the day it is your harness and you have to wear it.
Cut out 2 strips of 140cm x 2cm (this is just for now you will need more as we go on)
You need to mark where the leatherette strips will come through the harness as you can see in the picture it crosses over the back of the harness.
One strip should go over each shoulder, and cross over at the back to go under your arms.
The strips that come over the front of the harness need to be sewn so they have a loop in the end as you can see in the picture at the end, it has to be at least 2 cm wide so that another strip can go through.
You will need to cut 2 more strips.
They need to go through the loops on the front by your shoulders. They need to cross over your chest. Now we are going to sew our first belt buckle! ahhhhhh (make sure its through the loop before you sew as once its in you cant fit it back out through the hole.)
Push the buckle onto the strip of leatherette so that it is sticking up. The spike should push against the leatherette.
Then where its sticking up, cut a very small hole and push the spike through.
Then the bit thats folded over you need to sew together.
Put it back on, make a hole in the other strip and do it up like a normal belt. The centralise it and pin it to the straps coming over the shoulders to keep it all in place.
Next part ...
Pull the strips that come from the lower back part of the harness diagonally forward. So that they come between your hipbones. (If I were you I would put on the belt you are planning to use for the cosplay about now)
They should pull forward to just before the first loop of your trousers.
Now for the second way we do belt buckles and guess what NO SEWING!
Keep the harness on! its pretty easy!
Cut a small hole in the middle of the strip of leatherette were it first meets your belt.
Slide the buckle onto the strip of leatherette so the leatherette goes over, under, over. With the spike sticking in towards the material. Until the spike goes through the hole.
Pull the leatherette over and then back under the belt. Push it through the buckle and cut a hole for the spike. DONE!
